Big AL is synonymous with the catchphrase “Howdeedoodie” and his famous “Big AL Bulging Bags” which are very much sought after.  It’s the curiosity factor I think?

Without doubt Big AL is an excellent broadcaster as well as being a top entertainer at live roadshows and outside broadcasts.

AL started off his radio career at Edinburgh Hospital Broadcasting moving onto East Lothian Broadcasting and had a gap of about 10 years.  He then joined Radio Lollipop as a volunteer and simply got the bug and pursued his ultimate ambition to get on a real radio station and joined Central FM in Stirling.

Radio Forth in Edinburgh expressed an interest and he successfully broadcast on both stations for about 6 months until Radio Forth offered him a more regular spot.  His first show was on RFM continuing his career on Radio Forth as part of the Forth FM team and them went on to broadcast on the rebranded Forth One and eventually ended up on Forth 2 as the breakfast show presenter for a year.

In radio things change all the time so he then moved back to Forth One hosting late nights Mon-Thur and Sat and Sunday breakfast.  From Radio Forth AL moved to Real Radio in 2004 and has hosted virtually every show on the station as well as his own shows on Saturday afternoons and now Sunday evening for the Real Jukebox.

Over the past 15 years AL has been in the very fortunate position of being able to host a number of major events such as a live drivetime show for one week from Disneyworld in Florida.  He co-hosted a major event in Princess Street gardens, 2 years on the trot called Go For It which was broadcast on the World Wide Web  aswell as numerous OB’s  from the Tall Ships, Festival Cavalcade and from most of the major shopping centres in East and Central Scotland.    He has also been very lucky to have had the chance to interview the likes of Proclaimers, Richard Marxs, Sparks, Danni Minogue and Boyzone and Westlife.

As well as pursuing his radio career over the past 15 years he had a short stint on TV and currently runs a very successful entertainment company providing entertainment and equipment for major events in Scotland as well as the North of England.
